Town and urbanisation: basic terminology and relations/structures.
Land use planning and building typology regulation.
History of city development and contemporary planning theory.
Spatial planning legislation and documentation.

Objectives and competences
The main aim of this subject is to present the features of the spatial planning process and contemporary city development issues, and also to give an introduction to spatial and land use planning in view of infrastructure planning and management.
Intended learning outcomes
An understanding of basic terminology e.g. urbanisation, spatial planning, urban design;
An understanding and knowledge of fundamental principals of spatial planning such as land use planning and building typology;
An understanding of the role of the urban planner role within the broader concept of real estate management;
Knowledge of planning process phases and the role of particular planning documents especially for planning infrastructure.
