Content (Syllabus outline)
The concept of facility management from the perspective of investing and maintaining of already constructed buildings will be discussed. In the first part, the lectures are designed from the perspective of strategic management: connecting business and strategic and maintaining of buildings – strategic management processes, strategic views on built environment, environmental and organizational analyses, strategic options, strategic implementations, strategic supervising. In the second part, the lectures are practically oriented and focus on concrete cases from Slovenian and international environment.

– Designing the interiors in connection with the economic development.
– Maintenance and operation.
– Connection between theory and practice.
– Preparation of facility management strategic plan.

– To know Slovenian regulation from the Facility management field

Intended learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding:
Student:
– get basic theoretical and practical knowledge form the facility management field,
– understands the processes of facility management
– knows modern technologies, which influence on the built environment changes
– knows the EU directives and regulations,
– knows practical cases of renovation.
Learning and teaching methods
– Lectures with active participating of students (description, discussion, questions, examples, solving the problems)
– Exercises,
– Individual and group consultations (discussion, explanation, special questions)
Assessment
Type (examination, oral, coursework, project): Assessment of written (60 %) and oral (20 %) examinations and seminar work (20 %).

Assistant professor dr. Andrej Baričič specialises in fields of real estate management and microeconomics. He wrote several scientific and professional papers. He actively participates in international applicative research projects.
