– Understanding the architecture
– Understanding the role of the architect in the construction process
– Architecture, 1900-2010

Objectives and competences
Students will become familiar with the role and importance of architecture in the Slovenian and European space, especially in terms of architectural thinking and design in line with the development of technology and new materials. To understand the architecture, it is important to develop a sense of architectural design and quality of architecture that throughout history changes and upgrades.
Learning unit contributes to the development of generic and subject specific competences:
– Knowledge of architecture;
– Knowledge of historical changes in the design of architecture;
– Knowledge of the elements, which affect the quality of the architecture;
– Ability to analyze contemporary architecture.
Intended learning outcomes
Student:
– Knows the architectural basics of modernism.
– Understands the development of architecture.
– Understands the principles of construction and architectural design.
Learning and teaching methods
– Lectures with students active participation (presentation, discussion, questions, examples, problem solving);
– Exercises;
– Individual and / or group consultations (discussion, additional explanation, specific questions).
Assessment
Oral examination, term paper.
