Na Pravni fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani je diplomiral leta 1998. Naslov njegove diplomske naloge je “Varstvo zasebnosti v okviru Evropske konvencije o človekovih pravicah”. V letih 1998 do 2003 je bil asistent-stažist na Katedri za kazensko pravo Pravne fakultete Univerze v Ljubljani. Leta 2005 se je po opravljenem pravniškem državnem izpitu zaposlil v Odvetniški družbi Čeferin, kjer je ukvarjal s kazenskim in ustavnim pravom. Istega leta je tudi postal doktor kazenskopravnih znanosti z disertacijo “Strukturna in vsebinska nasprotja teoretičnega modela mešanega kazenskega postopka” na Pravni fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani pod mentorstvom prof. dr. Zvonka Fišerja. V letih 2006 do 2008 je bil dopolnilno zaposlen tudi na Inštitutu za kriminologijo pri Pravni fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani kot vodja raziskave “Dokazni standardi v kazenskem postopku”.
Leta 2011 je pridobil naziv odvetnik-specialist za kazensko pravo (kazenski zakon in kazenski postopek) in začel s samostojno odvetniško prakso. Je avtor in soavtor številnih znanstvenih, raziskovalnih in strokovnih del, predvsem s področja kazenskega prava. V letih od 2012 do 2019 je bil izpraševalec za področje kazensko pravo na pravniškem državnem izpitu. Je predavatelj in nosilec predmeta “Kazensko in kaznovalno pravo” na Fakulteti za management in pravo (MLC) v Ljubljani. Leta 2017 je pridobil naziv docent za področje pravo.

He graduated at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana in 1998. The title of his thesis is “The protection of privacy under the European Convention on Human Rights”. In the years from 1998 to 2003 he was an assistant lecturer in the Department of Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana. In 2005 he began working at the Čeferin Law Firm, where he dealt mainly with the criminal and constitutional law. He was involved in the cases Makoter, Lončarič, Perič and Šuštar. In 2005 he obtained his PhD with a thesis “Structural and contextual contradictions of a theoretical model of mixed criminal procedure”. His mentor was prof. dr. Zvonko Fišer. In the years from 2006 to 2008 he was also employed at the Institute of Criminology as a research manager for the research project “The standard of proof in criminal proceedings”.
In 2011 he obtained the title “criminal law specialist” from the Slovenian Bar Association and started his legal practice. He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific, research and professional works, mostly concerning criminal law. He was an examiner at the State Legal Exam in the years 2012-2019. He is a lecturer at the Management and Law College, where he teaches criminal law as an assistant professor.
He speaks English, German and Croatian and has passive knowledge of Italian.
