Izr. prof. dr. Marko Brus je višji sodnik na višjem sodišču v Ljubljani.
Rodil se je leta 1966 v Ljubljani. Na Pravni fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani je študiral v letih 1984 do 1989, na Ekonomski fakulteti s prekinitvami med leti 1985 in 1995. Magistrskega in doktorskega študija prava se je lotil na Ruprecht-Karls-Universität v Heidelbergu (Zvezna republika Nemčija) in je tam oba tudi končal. Doktoriral je leta 1997. Predmet njegove disertacije je bilo koncernsko pravo, in sicer pravnoprimerjalno nemško in slovensko.
V letu 1994 je Marko Brus opravil pravosodni izpit, ki ustreza sedanjemu pravniškemu državnemu izpitu.
Po vrnitvi iz študija v Nemčiji se je zaposlil najprej kot odvetniški kandidat in odvetnik, pri čemer se je vseskozi ukvarjal z gospodarskim pravom. V letu 2001 je postal okrajni sodnik. Na delo je bil dodeljen Vrhovnemu sodišču Republike Slovenije (VS RS), in sicer njegovemu gospodarskemu oddelku. Kasneje je bil predodeljen na delo pri upravnem oddelku VS RS, pri čemer je napredoval na mesto višjega sodnika.
Od jeseni leta 2008 do jeseni 2011 je bil zaposlen kot docent za civilno pravo na Evropski pravni fakulteti v Novi Gorici, potem se je vrnil v sodstvo, in sicer na Višje sodišče v Ljubljani, kjer je kot višji sodnik zaposlen še sedaj. Na Evropski pravni fakulteti je poučeval predvsem predmete Uvod v civilno pravo, Obligacijsko pravo, Stvarno pravo in Civilno procesno pravo.
Med dela dr. Marka Brusa spadajo Uvod v civilno pravo iz leta 2011 in Obveznostno pravo : splošni del obligacij brez zakonskih obveznostnih razmerij iz leta 2014.
Dr. Marko Brus je spisal več člankov s področja civilnega in gospodarskega prava, in je sodeloval pri izdaji različnih pravnih strokovnih knjig. Je tudi izključni pisec knjig Uvod v zasebno pravo, Splošni del civilnega prava, Ljubljana 2011 in Obveznostno pravo, Splošni del obligacij brez zakonskih obveznostnih razmerij, Ljubljana 2014.
Kot strokovnjak je sodeloval pri sestavi stvarnega in obveznostnega prava Republike Kosovo.
Dr. Brus se je v času po opravljenem doktoratu večkrat strokovno izpopolnjeval v inozemstvu, in sicer med drugim na inštitutih Maxa Plancka v Münchnu (intelektualna lastnina) in Hamburgu (mednarodno civilno procesno pravo), bil pa je tudi stagiaire v Luxemburgu na takratnem Sodišču I. Stopnje.
Dr. Marko Brus obvlada poleg slovenščine še angleščino, nemščino, francoščino in hrvaščino (srbščino).

Associate professor doctor Marko Brus is judge at the Court of Appeal in Ljubljana
He was born in 1966 in Ljubljana. He studied at the Faculty of Law of University of Ljubljana between 1984 and 1989 and at the Faculty of Economics, with some interruptions, between 1985 and 1995. He studied law to achieve the degree of Magister Legum and Doctor of Laws at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg (Federal Republic of Germany) and finished the studies there both. He did his PhD in 1997. The subject matter of his thesis was the law of group of companies. In his thesis he applied the comparative method to compare the German and the Slovenian law.
In 1994 Dr. Marko Brus passed the „pravosodni izpit“ (bar examination), which corresponds now with the „pravniški državni izpit“ (which is also a bar examination).
After having returned from the studies in Germany he worked first as candidate for attorney-at-law and later as attorney-at-law. He worked all the time as a lawyer specialized in the business law. In 2001 he was appointed as judge of local court but also assigned to work at the Supreme Court of Republic of Slovenia (SC of RS), more precisely, to its department for business law. Later he was reassigned to work at the department for administrative law and at that time he was promoted to the rank of judge of court of appeal.
From autumn 2008 to autumn 2011 he worked as assistant professor (docent) for the civil law at the European Law Faculty in Nova Gorica. He returned thereafter to the judiciary to the Higher Court in Ljubljana where he is still employed now. At the Europeany Faculty of Law he taught particularly the following subjects: Introduction into the Civil Law, Law of Obligations, Property Law and Civil Procedure.
Dr. Marko Brus wrote a number of essays on the civil law and business law. He also made contributions to different legal texbooks. He is the sole author of textbooks Uvod v civilno pravo (Introduction into the Civil Law), Ljubljana 2011 and Law of Obligations, General Part of Obligations without the Obligations Based on Law, Ljubljana 2014.
He contributed to the draft law on property and draft law on obligations of Republic of Kosovo as an external expert.
After conferral of a doctorate undertook dr. Brus professional training abroad on several occasions, as for instance on the Max Planck institutes in Munich (intelectual property) and in Hamburg (international procedure) but he was also a stagiaire in Luxemburg in the Court of the First Instance.
