prof. dr. Mitja Žagar Visokošolski učitelj
Dr. Mitja Žagar is Research Councilor at the Institute for Ethnic Studies. In the period 2015-2020 he was a member of the Scientific Council of the Slovenian Research Agency. He is full professor at Universities of Ljubljana, Primorska/Littoral and New University. As (visiting) lecturer/professor/fellow he has cooperated with higher education and research institutions in Europe, Africa, Australia and North America as well as worked as expert with several national, foreign and international institutions and organizations (e.g., governments, ministries, parliaments, UN and its specialized agencies, OSCE, CoE, NGOs, etc.). Combining law, political science, diversity management, ethnic, peace and conflict studies he has researched human rights, protection of minorities, ethnicity, migration(s), inclusion, integration, governance, participation, democracy, federalism, autonomy, transformation(s)/ transition(s), institution building, citizenship, civic and life-long learning, prevention, management and resolution of crises and conflicts, etc. and published on those topics. Znanstvenoraziskovalno, pedagoško in strokovno delo nosilca ter drugi poudarki
Raziskovanje – v okviru raziskovalnega programa, temeljnih in ciljnih, evropskih in mednarodnih raziskovalnih projektov – problematike upravljanja različnosti, posebej urejanja in upravljanja etnične različnosti in (med)etničnih odnosov. Sodelovanje v strokovnih in svetovalnih telesih Vlade RS, Ministrstva za zunanje zadeve in Ministrstva za kulturo zlasti na področju upravljanja različnosti, multi in interkulturnosti, človekovih pravic in svoboščin, pravic in varstva manjšin, kulturne dejavnosti manjšinskih in drugih specifičnih skupnosti. Ekspertno delo in sodelovanje z mednarodnimi organizacijami, kot so Svet Evrope, OVSE in zlasti Visoki komisar za narodne manjšine, UNESCO, Pakt stabilnosti za JV Evropo, IMO, itd. Poleg pedagoškega dela na FDV ter razvoja, koordiniranja in izvajanja podiplomskega magistrskega programa etničnih študij (oz. prej politologije – etničnih študij) kaže omeniti še naslednje za področje relevantne pedagoške angažmaje v tujini:
– Gostujoči predavatelj (Associate Member of the Graduate Faculty – Associate Professor) na Univerzi Wayne State (Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, ZDA) na Oddelku za politične vede (Department of Political Science) in Centru za mirovne študije in proučevanje konfliktov (Center for Peace and Conflict Studies) v študijskem letu 1995/1996, kjer sem v poletnem semestru (junij – avgust 1996) predaval predmet "International Community and International Law" na dodiplomskem (An Introduction) in podiplomskem študiju.

– Sokoordinator in predavatelj (so-izvajalec) tečaja/predmeta “The management of diversities in society” (s prof. dr. Antoniom M. – Drafting the bilateral agreement between the Republic of Hungary and the Republic of Slovenia on ethnic minorities (Agreement on providing special rights for the Slovenian minority living in the Republic of Hungary and for the Hungarian minority living in the Republic of Slovenia, signed 1992, ratified 1994).
