Subsidized student meals system is a way of state support to students. The government subsidizes a part of the meal in restaurants that have a contract for subsidized food. All students that study at higher education institutions in the Republic of Slovenia are justified to subsidies. Regular and part-time students, graduates and graduates of post-graduate studies (if not employed or seeking employment) can benefit. Subsidies are also available to all students of foreign universities accomplishing academic requirements within international exchange programmes in the Republic of Slovenia if their university or institution of higher education grants them a student status. Students who are parents are entitled to ten additional subsidized meals per month. This right is considered for every child but it can be exercised only by one parent. Students with special needs, e.g. functional disability, and children of those who died in the war for Slovenia with proof of student status also have ten additional subsidies. Students can enroll in the database for the first time at the info point of Gorizia student club or anywhere else in Slovenia.
