Prerequisites
Masters in law or other masters degree in social sciencies plus differential exams.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Selected topics from international law according to the knowledge and understanding of international law previously acquired by the candidates; the possibly selected topics to be delt with are : the right of peoples to selfdetermination; protection of minorities, formation and indentification of international law, jus cogens in international law; the role of international law in foreign policy etc.; the problems of R2P, the role of ICC etc.
Objectives and competences
To qualify doctoral candidates to investigate theoretical and practical problems of law, and especially international law.
Intended learning outcomes
Understanding international law and its role in securing the rule of law in the contemporary international community.
Learning and teaching methods
Lectures, seminar work and oral presentations.
Assessment
Seminar work, oral examination.
